Overview
The department was established in 1995 along with
other four departments at CEDHA.The has three full
time staff members, specialized in Public health.
The department is responsible for training,
research, consultancy in public health issues, and
managing public health programmes.
Training
Departmental staff are responsible for Teaching a
variety of subjects including research methodology, Health
and Development, reproductive and child health as
well as other public health issues.

Departmental staff have been involved in several
research projects.

Programme
management
The Public health department oversees implementation
of a Programme entitled: Health
Status of Tanzania Families Improved (HSTFI).
This is a USAID
supported programme started which started in 2003
and it is implemented in phases. The programme’s
focus is on improving quality of reproductive
and child health service and Malaria case management
in the districts, as well as improving CEDHA and
Regional Health Management Team capacity. Currently
phase 6 is being implemented, in Manyara, Arusha ,
Kilimanjaro,
Tanga, Singida and Dodoma regions.
