The main activities of the  department include training, conducting research, and providing consultancy services in health personnel education. The training programmes are in form of long course, short courses, and distance education.
The program equip participants with the following:

• Knowledge on planning, implementation and evaluation of educational programmes

• Managerial and or administrative skills to become better managers of health training institutions.

• Conduct both educational and operational research using rational and sound approaches.

• Identify, prepare, and use health learning materials effectively

• Current issues in health and health related developments

• Communication skills for effective communication, counseling and guidance.

• knowledge, attitude and skills required in teaching and learning situations

• Develop skills in assessment of students’ performance during the course.

•  Acquire study skills and internalize concepts of educational psychology

Methods of training

A variety of training methods and approaches are used; including lecture discussion, assignments, tutorials, demonstration, case studies and practical work.
